Dr. Giulio Diamante’s commitment to excellence in eye care began with a clear vision: to deliver advanced, personalized treatment using the latest technologies available in ophthalmology.
After completing his ophthalmology residency at Boston University School of Medicine in 1998, Dr. Diamante was appointed Medical Director of Ocean State Ophthalmology, a Providence-based practice with a distinguished 40-year history. Under his leadership, the practice quickly evolved into one of the largest and most respected ophthalmology centers in New England, recognized for its exceptional outcomes and patient-centered approach.
In response to rapid growth and the evolving needs of his patients, Dr. Diamante opened a custom-designed medical facility in 2011, creating OPTX Rhode Island. This state-of-the-art center was built with a singular focus on patient comfort and clinical excellence. Adjacent to the medical office, the OPTX Eyewear Gallery was introduced—an elevated retail destination offering luxury eyewear and sunglasses from world-renowned designers.
Together with CEO Lynne Diamante, Dr. Diamante completed the full vision for OPTX: an integrated experience where expert eye care meets curated optical fashion. Backed by a highly skilled team dedicated to superior service, OPTX quickly became known for delivering a five-star patient experience and remains a trusted destination for clients across New England and beyond.
In 2012, OPTX expanded its clinical team with the addition of Dr. Teresa Head, an experienced optometrist with advanced expertise in contact lens fitting and low vision care, further broadening the scope of services offered. Dr. Head has treated both routine and complicated eye disease. She has worked closely with Dr. Diamante for over 10 years. 
In 2025, Dr. Meghan Ghazal joined our practice, providing routine and medical eyecare as well as emergency eyecare, to our patients. Dr. Ghazal worked closely with Dr. Diamante for nearly 3 years, caring for highly complex patients.
Dr. Eric Prytula will be joining our practice in August 2025. Dr. Prytula has over 15 years of experience caring for a wide range of patients. Dr. Prytula’s clinical background will add another significant dimension of patient care to our practice. 
In 2023, Dr. Giulio Diamante expanded his vision for specialized eye care with the opening of SurgiHealth Rhode Island—the state’s only surgery center exclusively dedicated to ophthalmic procedures and fully accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC). This prestigious certification reflects SurgiHealth’s adherence to the highest national standards for patient safety and quality in cataract surgery.
Designed with patient comfort and outcomes in mind, SurgiHealth offers an exceptional standard of care, including an unparalleled nurse-to-patient ratio that approaches 1:1. The center is equipped with the most advanced technology available for cataract surgery, allowing for precision, safety, and outstanding visual results. Since its inception, SurgiHealth has earned consistently high patient satisfaction ratings, further establishing its reputation as a premier destination for surgical eye care in Rhode Island.
